HOW TO CHOOSE THE RIGHT GILES SLING FOR YOUR AR-15/M16/CAR-15/M4-TYPE RIFLEWhen trying to choose which Giles Sling is right for you, the most important question is what is the configuration of the sling attachments on your gun? We can adapt to almost any configuration with our wraparound webbing harnesses or third-party hardware adapters. The rule of thumb is that the tactical sling needs to be coming off the side of the gun on the shooter's side of it. Here is a visual reference to help you know what your current configuration is: Where is your front sling-swivel attached?
Where is your rear sling-swivel attached?
Which forend/handguards are on your rifle?AR handguards/forends can come in numerous variations.
Which buttstock is on your rifle?Because fixed A1 and A2 stocks can have numerous similar features depending upon date of manufacture, the easiest way to differentiate them is by length. Older FIXED A1 buttstocks are 9-7/8" long from the back of the gun's reciever to the back of the buttplate. Newer FIXED A2 buttstock is 10-1/2" long from the back of the gun's reciever to the back of the buttplate.
